A non profit organisation, created in response to the water restrictions in the Western Cape, to assist Government and Municipalities with water and sanitation needs in under-resourced schools and communities.

Our Task Teams undertake school and community site inspections. SOS then provides alternative water sources, installs water infrastructure and other sanitation requirements. We Educate and Engage.

7.5% of South Africa’s water supply systems are in poor and/or critical condition. SOSNPO provides alternative water sources to schools and water scarce communities by supplying non-potable water, transporting it to installed tanks, and managing access for non-drinking uses. SOSNPO improves water provision through rainwater harvesting systems in informal communities and schools, ensuring continuity of education and supporting micro-businesses. Our focus on non-potable water solutions promotes water security in these areas. We are dedicated to providing potable water to businesses and schools facing challenges, while ensuring safe drinking water for underprivileged communities.
Hygiene is crucial for health, preventing disease, and improving cleanliness. SOSNPO works to improve hygiene in underprivileged communities by installing handwashing stations in schools and high traffic areas like taxi ranks. We focus on sustainable initiatives that combine infrastructure with hygiene education, including handwashing facilities and educational sessions led by certified professionals. Our efforts also extend to oral care, providing teeth brushing demonstrations and distributing toothpaste and toothbrushes. SOSNPO is committed to ending the stigma around menstrual health and addressing period poverty by educating and implementing solutions.
